In their column, "The Power of Knowledge," Linda & Tony Checchia claim that "voting is a very private and subjective privilege" and that, therefore, they are not going to offer an endorsement. The American Heritage Dictionary defines "endorse" as "to give approval of or support to, especially publicly." The Checchia's article is clearly an endorsement. Why are they afraid to call it what it is? And, why, given the way they feel about endorsements (i.e., that they are not worth the paper on which they are written), did they take the time to write it?
