CDC Questionnaire for Students Isnít Academic Ė Part 1

John W. Ashbury

It isn’t a surprise that a public school education isn’t what it used to be. Those who have taken that 1895 Kansas high school test are keenly aware that even their education of some years ago didn’t measure up to what children learned “back-in-the-day.”

One of the problems certainly is the amount of classroom time that is devoted to non-academic matters. And that time devotion is growing – particularly with the number of “standardized” tests being required by the state and federal governments. There has to be learning before you can test the knowledge retention.

Now comes word of a mandate that all middle and high school students are being required to fulfill – unless the child’s parents take specific action to exempt their child.

And the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) questionnaire is not only intrusive into personal conduct of the child, but also into the lives of the family. And some of the questions asked bring up subjects the students are curious about, but also could lead the child into behavior that could be damaging to the health – both mental and physical – of the child.

So here is the questionnaire for high school student. Judge for yourself as to its appropriateness. It’s quite lengthy, so be prepared to read it all the way through. The middle school one will be posted at a later date.
